The Borough of Tioga

The Borough was incorporated February 1860 and is governed by a seven-member Council who are elected for staggered four-year terms. A mayor is elected also for a four-year term and is responsible for administration of its Police Department. The Borough Manager is appointed by Council and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Borough.

The Borough of Tioga is located north of Tioga and Hammond Lakes along the Tioga River. Tioga is situated in the northern portion of Tioga County. Tioga County, located in north central Pennsylvania, is one of the State’s largest counties in the area and one of the most rural. Tioga has a 2010 U.S. Census population of 666 and contains 0.5 square miles of area.

Outdoor Activities

The Tioga-Hammond Lakes recreation area has an abundance of camping options, hiking and biking trails, picnic sites, boat launches and overnight mooring for campers. The Lambs Creek Recreation Area is a day use facility on the Tioga Lake, and its secluded location offers a boater’s paradise with amazing water-skiing opportunities.  Tioga has a beautiful town park and town swimming pool.
